| Congregational Way |
The Congregational Way is a way of following Christ. People of a Congregational Church do not seek to be led by a creed, but by the Spirit. Ours is the tradition of a free church, gathered under the headship of Christ and bound to others by love, not law.
Did you know...
- Congregationalism came to America on the Mayflower.
- The Mayflower Compact was the first agreement for self-government ever put in force in America.
- About one-fifth of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were Congregationalists.
- One president and three vice-presidents were Congregationalists.
- Congregationalists founded the first colleges and universities in our country, including Harvard and Yale.
- The National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC) was founded in 1955. It is a voluntary association of free churches, each church having one vote in the affairs of the association. Presently, 426 churches in 39 states and two Canadian provinces are members of the NACCC. Approximately 70,000 individuals belong to these churches. There are also 11 associate member churches, 25 affiliated member churches, and 2 honorary member churches from three states, the District of Columbia, and six foreign countries.
